Jags Volunteer Positions
Age Group Parent:
In charge of getting all swimmers in the age group checked in and ensure they are marked for their events. You will need to let the coaches know if swimmers are no shows, especially if they are in a relay. One parent will escort the swimmers to the ready bench for their events making sure they are there in time to swim their race. And overall monitoring of the tent to ensure acceptable behavior is taking place during the meet. At the end of the meet Age Group parents help to clean up the tent area for tear down to pack up easier.
Computer Systems:
Responsible for ensuring the swimmers are entered in the right events prior to the meet, and entering times in the computers during the meet. Print out the labels for ribbons during the meet as well. Some training required.
Hospitality & Concessions:
At home meets, assist with the selling of food and drink items at pool location.
Ready Benches:
In charge of checking in swimmers to ready bench area and keeping them organized until it is their turn to swim.
Ribbons:
Receive labels from the computer folks and stick labels on all ribbons during the meet and file them them in swimmers folders for coaches to hand out at practice the following week. This committee is set up near computers in the shade.
Runner:
Getting time sheets from timers in each lane to the scoring people and picking up DQ slips from stroke and turn judges throughout the meet.
Scoring:
Confirms official times for each swimmer. Helps with data entry of scores during meet. Sits with Computer lead - in the shade.
Setup:
Occurs before everyone else arrives. In charge of the setting up of canopies and tarps for age groups. For home meets: organizes the swimming area with tables, chairs and ready benches. Blocking off areas for computer area and concessions.
Take Down:
Taking down tents and folding tarps and putting everything away in the storage trailer after meet has ended (Away meets- tarps and tents, Home meets- tarps, tents, benches, tables, ropes, etc).
Timer:
In charge of timing the individual swimmers for half of the meet. You stand at the end of the lane and time for that lane for half of the meet. You are on your feet most of time and in the sun. (*hint, wear flipflops and a hat).
